The EU AI Act, which was finally approved on May 21st, was published in the Official Journal of the EU on July 12th. Please refer to BKL’s 2024.6.17. Newsletter on Highlights and Implications of EU AI Act for details on each obligation.
II. IMPLICATIONS
The delay in publication of the EU AI Act incited some hopeful speculation that the enforcement of the AI Act might also be delayed. However, the publication confirmed that the big-picture trend of regulating AI in the EU will continue.
It is now clear that Korean companies providing AI services in the EU must comply with the requirements of the AI Act under the schedule above, and should prepare to meet the deadlines.
