BKL has been awarded the “Maritime Law Firm of the Year” and the “International Arbitration Firm of the Year” at the ALB Korea Law Awards 2025. The awards ceremony, now in its 13th year, was held on November 6 at Conrad Seoul and hosted by Asian Legal Business (ALB), a legal publication under Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading source of intelligent information for business and professionals.
In particular, BKL distinguished itself by being named the “Maritime Law Firm of the Year” for the second consecutive year, reaffirming its strong reputation and trust in the industry. The exceptional performance of the firm’s Maritime Team had been recognized in some of the most significant advisory and dispute cases, including ▲ advising on HMM’s ship financing of nine 9,000 TEU methanol-fueled container vessels, one of the largest financing deals in 2024; and ▲ representing major parties in the legal proceedings relating to limitation on liabilities of vessel owners regarding the sinking of the MV Tan Binh 127.
BKL was also recognized for its continued excellence in the “International Arbitration Law Firm of the Year” category. The firm achieved notable results in high-profile matters, such as ▲ representing a Korean construction company in an international arbitration and related court proceedings against a Vietnamese state-owned enterprise; and ▲ successfully defending the Affinity Consortium in the second ICC arbitration concerning a put option dispute.
