Overview
Jaiyoung Kim practices in the areas of insurance, financial regulation, financial business licensing & governmental approval, sea, trade, data privacy, energy, and general criminal cases. Mr. Kim once worked as a prosecutor with Seoul District Prosecutors' Office and the Gangneung Branch of Chuncheon District Prosecutors' Office for 3 years from 1996. From 1999, he began to practice as a lawyer, and since then, has advised domestic/foreign insurance companies, insurance-related organizations, shipping and shipbuilding companies, financial supervisory authorities, etc. on insurances, insurance claims (in litigations), insurance industry regulation, insurance industry M&As, and all sorts of disputes related to sea and trade. Also, he has advised on financial/insurance crimes, data privacy in financial area, general criminal cases, and the energy issues of leading domestic public corporations.
Based on his experience, Mr. Kim wrote several books and papers, such as Traffic Penalty Law, Measures to Streamline the Insurance Legal System for the Gaeseong Industrial Complex, and Trends of Insurance Legal System in North Korea and Direction of Integration of Insurance Legal Systems of North and South Korea. He currently serves as a non-standing member of the Consumers Dispute Settlement Commission, Korea Consumer Agency, and a member of the Administrative Trial Committee, Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.
