Overview
Soonik Kwon completed his judicial apprenticeship at the Judicial Research and Training Institute and then worked as a judge at the Seoul Central District Court, the Seoul Western District Court, the Suwon District Court, the Gangneung Branch of the Chuncheon District Court, etc. Mr. Kwon joined Bae, Kim & Lee LLC in 2007 after retiring as a research judge at the Supreme Court.
Mr. Kwon's main practice area is litigation: he has achieved good results from major civil and criminal suits (including Samsung inheritance lawsuit and all sorts of criminal cases involving LG, Hanwha, Ssangyong, SK, Shinsegae and Hyosung) and from complex financial suits (including cases related to export bond insurance and fund). Based on his trial experience and expertise earned through working for the government and dynamism earned through working as a lawyer, he is well known for seeing the heart of cases and conducting proper and precise defenses in each case.
Such experience and reputation has allowed him to become a member of the Case Evaluation Committee, Supreme Prosecutor's Office Republic of Korea; Management Assessment Committee, Financial Supervisory Service; Legislation Committee of the Korean Bar Association; and other committees of government agencies including the Supreme Court of Korea and the Ministry of Education.
