Overview
Joonki Yi has performed extensive matters in the fields such as inbound/outbound M&As, joint ventures, energy/overseas resource development, and disputes over management rights, etc. over the past 25 years. As a renowned attorney-at-law in the M&A, Mr. Yi has advised his clients on landmark transactions, etc. such as the big deal between Samsung and Hanwha, China's Doublestar's acquisition of Kumho Tire, GS E&C's acquisition of Spain's Inima, and Korea Electric Power Corporation's spinoff of its power generation subsidiary. Mr. Yi currently serves as a managing partner.
Mr. Yi graduated from Seoul National University School of Law in 1990 and completed the 22nd class of Judicial Research and Training Institute, Supreme Court of Korea in 1993. After successfully completing his obligation for military service as judge advocate, he joined Bae, Kim & Lee LLC in 1996. Mr. Yi also obtained an LL.M. from the Columbia Law School in 2001. After admission to the bar of New York in 2002, he practiced law in the Skadden Arps New York office (2001-2002).
