Overview

Gyuha Chai joined Bae, Kim & Lee LLC as a senior advisor in February 1, 2023. Mr. Chai advises on policies and issues related to antitrust laws and regulations, including the Fair Trade Act, the Labeling and Advertising Act, the Subcontracting Act, and the Large Retail Business Act.

Prior to joining BKL, Mr. Chai had, as standing member and secretary general of the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC), engaged directly in deliberation and resolution on violations of the Fair Trade Act, including cartels, abuse of market-dominance, and business combinations, and violations of the Subcontracting Act and the Labeling and Advertising Act, and engaged in direction and supervision of all duties, such as investigation and case handling, at the Secretary General's Office of the KFTC. Prior to the standing member and the secretary general, he had also served as spokesperson, director general for Planning and Coordination, and director general of Anti-Monopoly Bureau, etc. responsible for public relations and relations with the National Assembly, and as an examiner responsible for the examination of violations of the law for submission to plenary meetings and sub-meetings of the KFTC and drafting of policies and enforcement of law at a working level. In total, he worked for the KFTC for 30 years.

Based on his extensive experience and knowledge in the field of fair trade, Mr. Chai provides advice not only on fair trade, but also on corporate legal affairs, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory consulting.
