Overview
Buru Im advises mainly on the matters related to fair trade practices, investigations and lawsuits.
Mr. Im has broad experience in using econometric analyses to evaluate how much loss or competition-lessening effect a company has caused by its collusive act or abuse of its market-dominating position. Particularly, he has been engaged in a number of collusion damage suits involving a wide range of industrial companies, including large construction companies, banking automation equipment providers, pharmaceutical companies, and electric wire manufacturers—where he estimates damages by employing an economic analysis approach. In addition, his rich experience in economic analysis encompasses other various fields: For example, he looked into an online large company's abuse of its dominant market position to evaluate the resulting competition-lessening effect, and calculated accounting fraud-caused damages.
Mr. Im graduated from the Department of Economics of Seoul National University in 2002 and earned a master's degree in Economics at Seoul National University's graduate school in 2010. Then, since 2016, he has served as an economic analysis expert in the fair trade field.
