Overview
Chris Mainwaring-Taylor is a senior foreign attorney specializing in International Arbitration and Construction disputes. He has more than 23 years of experience, gained working in four of the world’s major arbitral hubs: London; Paris; Dubai and Singapore.
Mr. Chris has extensive experience of acting as counsel and advocate in international commercial and construction arbitration proceedings under a wide variety governing laws (both civil and common law) and arbitration rules, including those of the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, ICSID, DIAC and UNCITRAL. He has also represented clients in emergency arbitrations, arbitration-related court proceedings, mediations and adjudications (DABs). His court work includes proceedings relating to the challenge and enforcement of arbitral awards, as well as anti-suit injunctions to prevent litigation commenced in breach of arbitration agreements.
Mr. Chris focuses on disputes arising out of major projects across a range of sectors, including energy and natural resources, power and infrastructure. He has a particular expertise in construction disputes, including a large number of arbitrations and adjudications relating to claims for extensions of time, disruption, variations, additional costs, liquidated damages, disputed bond calls, major defects, force majeure and contract terminations. Those claims have arisen on a wide variety of projects including onshore and offshore LNG facilities, power projects (including renewables), refineries, petrochemical plants, ports, marine vessels and commercial buildings.
Mr. Chris' experience also includes a number of upstream energy (oil & gas) disputes, investment treaty arbitrations, M&A related disputes and other commercial disputes arising under a variety of contracts including joint venture, shareholder and concession agreements.
Mr. Chris is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and sits as an arbitrator, most recently as President of an ICC arbitration tribunal in a Singapore-seated case relating to the supply and installation of manufacturing equipment in Asia.
