Overview

Andy (Dong Kyoo) Hur practices international commercial law (including as an extension of in-house legal teams), large-scale global M&A and joint venture transactions, and corporate law, holding dual qualifications across both Australia and New Zealand. He regularly advises publicly listed companies, multinational corporations and large businesses across various jurisdictions in a variety of industries including within the automotive, FMCG, industrial (steel, chemical, oil and energy), technology and retail sectors.

Mr. Hur regularly advises clients on their large-scale cross-border M&A transactions and international joint venture projects across the broader APAC and SEA regions, business-critical commercial contract negotiations, corporate structuring, restructuring and governance matters, as well as international area development, franchising, intellectual property and licensing matters, with a demonstrated track record of obtaining favorable outcomes for clients by way of risk and exposure mitigation, and cost reduction (including in accordance with his client's standard internal processes and playbook mandates, and completion of risk assessment forms for approval).

Mr. Hur is considered as one of few specialist automotive commercial lawyers in the world that has a deep understanding of how the automotive industries operate across various jurisdictions including Australia, New Zealand, China, Korea and the broader APAC region. He has represented a significant number of OEMs, including more traditional vehicle manufacturers, as well as new electric vehicle brands originating from Europe and China, and large dealership group companies that operate multi-brand dealerships. In addition, he has represented motorcycle, boat and off-road vehicle brands alike, often in an extension of in-house legal capacity, and day-to-day management of the dealership network and portfolio. His expertise range broadly from undertaking complex national automotive projects, competitive tender processes, transportation and logistics related matters, dealer network structuring, appointment and consolidation processes, large dealership sales and acquisitions, and advising on commercial and operational issues, beyond legal issues.

Prior to joining Bae, Kim & Lee LLC, Mr. Hur worked for leading national commercial law firms across Australia, New Zealand and China.
