Overview
In an exceptional public service career spanning over three decades, Sung Kim held senior positions under four U.S. Presidents—GW Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden. Most notably, he served as U.S. ambassador to three critically important Indo-Pacific nations—the Republic of Korea, the Philippines, and Indonesia—and led U.S. diplomatic efforts on North Korea as special representative for the DPRK and special envoy for the Six Party Talks.
With his historic appointment as U.S. ambassador to Korea, Mr. Kim became the first Korean-American to lead U.S. diplomatic efforts in Korea, and with subsequent appointments to Manila and Jakarta, he became the first Asian-American diplomat to hold three ambassadorships. Before his career in foreign affairs, he served as a public prosecutor in Los Angeles, California.
In this increasingly uncertain and complex global environment, Mr. Kim is providing strategic advice to Korean companies with overseas operations and investments, as well as to foreign firms with interests in Korea.
