Middle East & Africa
"While I am not surprised that they have very strong lawyers for Korean law issues, they are also strong on international law issues and practices. The teams I have worked with are smart and knowledgeable but also practical, with good judgement."

Overview
With the opening of the Dubai office in 2015, BKL became the first Korean law firm to establish a permanent presence in the Middle East. Since then, we have expanded our area of practices to North Africa and other parts of Africa, transforming into a Korea Desk to continue our vibrant practices. Our Middle East & Africa Practice Group and Korea Desk provide high-quality legal services to Korean companies operating in the region, leveraging our extensive experience and deep understanding of local practices. Particularly in regions like the Middle East and Africa, where access to information and project sites is limited, we offer precise and practical advice that reflects the rapidly changing local systems and circumstances, earning high praise from our clients.
BKL’s Middle East & Africa Practice Group is comprised of experts with extensive local experience and expertise in various fields, including professionals with on-site experience in the region handling multiple advisory and dispute cases for large Korean construction companies in UAE and Saudi Arabia. Our Middle East & Africa Practice Group also has extensive experience in all aspects of corporate legal matters involving the Middle East and Africa, including cross-border M&As and construction/energy projects. As a pioneer of the region, we have also successfully advised clients in their entry into countries such as UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Oman and Turkey, where the local laws, systems and customs are not always familiar.
Our team includes attorneys with relevant local experiences, such as a former counsel of a subsidiary of Korean construction company in the region and a former president of the Korean Society of Islamic Law.
