BKL’s Real Estate Practice Group boasts a rich pool of professionals who have accumulated extensive experience in the real estate field and provide specialized advice across the full spectrum of real estate advisory services, including domestic and cross-border real estate transactions and development projects; real estate collective investment schemes such as REITs, REFs, PFVs, and trusts; offshore real estate investments in North America, Europe, and Asia; and related fields such as project financing and joint venture work.

Our professionals offer tailored, in-depth advice to clients in all areas of the real estate industry, with unrivalled representative experience in high-profile cross-border development projects – for example, the development of the Songdo International Business District in the Incheon Free Economic Zone (Gale Company and POSCO E&C), a new city in Bismayah, Iraq (Hanhwa E&C), and a new city in South Saad Al Abdullah, Kuwait (Korea Land and Housing Corporation).

BKL has worked extensively with REITs since the enactment of the Real Estate Investment Company Act in 2001 and possesses unsurpassed experience in REITs. In particular, in a string of successful projects involving the public offering and listing of REITs since 2018, BKL has the most extensive experience and expertise in the field. With regards to real estate collective investment schemes, BKL offers comprehensive advisory services that encompass the establishment and operation of real estate funds and REITs, the acquisition of requisite approvals and licenses and compliance with asset management and financial regulations. We also have a strong track record of advising clients on real estate development projects that leverage PFVs or management-type and loan-type land trusts.
