Yunghoon Sung is an of counsel of Bae, Kim & Lee LLC who specializes in corporate criminal matters, general criminal matters, and industrial safety and has recently demonstrated his expertise in settling complaints filed to all levels of administrative agencies.
Mr. Sung has extensive experience in special investigations and prosecutions, having held significant positions in the field of prosecution for 26 years, including a senior prosecutor of the Criminal Trial and Civil Litigation Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office; chief prosecutor of Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office; deputy minister for Legal Affairs under the Ministry of Justice; head of branches of district prosecutors' offices throughout the nation, and senior prosecutor of the Special Investigation Department at the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office. He first joined BKL in 2011 and left to serve as the chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (minister level) from December 2015 to June 2017. He rejoined the firm on January 1, 2018.
Mr. Sung is also an expert in German issues as he was seconded to a research institute and public prosecutor's offices in Germany during his time as a prosecutor. He also co-authored dissertations titled "Management of Confiscated Properties by Unified Germany and Eastern European Empire" and "Liquidation of the East German Regime by Unified Germany." He is currently working as an editorial board member of The Law Times to contribute to developing legal culture.
