Bo Youl Hur is a partner at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (BKL). Mr. Hur provides advice and handles litigation involving corporate restructuring (e.g. rehabilitation procedure, bankruptcy procedure, and workout). He was involved in most major domestic restructuring cases arising after the so-called IMF economic crisis in 1997 as an agent or advisor for the target companies or creditor financial institutions, and took the lead in handling M&As of companies under rehabilitation proceedings. He also handles all the matters (e.g. M&A activity, split-off, capital reduction, business transfer, share acquisition, etc.) coinciding with, or being derived from, the said corporate restructuring procedure. He also professionally handles all sorts of disputes (e.g. exercise of avoiding right, confirmation of reorganization claim, and profit/loss calculation and loss sharing after the end of a workout) raised in the course of corporate restructuring, in order to produce the best outcome for his clients.

Mr. Hur participated in writing—he wrote the part concerning Korea—A Guide to Asia Pacific Restructuring and Insolvency Procedures, published by Clifford Chance, a largest law firm in the UK. He has lectured on the practice of corporate bankruptcy and rehabilitation at Korea Banking Institute since 2007 and provided guidelines to persons in charge of rehabilitation, bankruptcy, and restructuring at foreign/domestic financial institutions. He also serves as an external member of the Investment Management Committee of the Fund Management Office of the National Pension Service. Due to his national—even international—reputation, he was recognized as a rising star in bankruptcy and restructuring in the 2013 edition of IFLR1000. He earned his LL.B. from Seoul National University and completed the 25th Judicial Research and Training Institute course. He earned his LL.M. from Duke University School of Law and was admitted to the New York Bar.
