Kyu Sang Chung is a senior foreign attorney of Bae, Kim & Lee LLC. Mr. Chung's practice mainly focuses on corporate M&As, corporate restructuring, WTO/FTA, M&As and restructuring of financial institutions, approvals and permits for financial institutions and financial regulations, corporate governance, disputes over management control, legislation consulting, establishment and operation of international organizations, etc. He passed the National Higher Civil Service Examination on Government Administration and started his career as a public servant with the Korean Government. He worked at the Ministry of Education, the Office of Administrative Policy Coordination of Prime Minister's Office, the Economic Planning Board, the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, etc., where he was responsible for policy evaluation and policy coordination, and market analysis and policy support to overcome Korea's financial crisis.
Mr. Chung joined BKL as a foreign attorney in December 1999 and has built up his career as a corporate restructuring and M&A lawyer by successfully handling many corporate workouts and mergers and acquisitions (e.g. Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Hynix Semiconductor, etc.). In addition, he acted as a legal advisor to the government in the processes of negotiation, execution and performance of major FTAs including Korea-US FTA and Korea-EU FTA, and also acted as a legal advisor to the government in connection with the business of the ITER organization. Mr. Chung earned a LL.B. from Seoul National University and a LL.M. from University of Chicago Law School and was admitted to the New York Bar.
