Bae, Kim & Lee Becomes First Korean Law Firm to Take Harvey Firmwide
Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (“BKL”), one of Korea’s leading law firms, has deployed Harvey, the global legal AI platform, across the entire firm as of July 1, 2026. BKL is the first Korean law firm to adopt Harvey on a firmwide basis, marking a significant step in the use of AI for legal service delivery in Korea.
The deployment follows a firmwide pilot through which BKL assessed Harvey’s fit for daily legal work, including legal research, drafting, document review and multilingual analysis. Based on strong engagement and demonstrated efficiency gains during the pilot, BKL decided to expand Harvey beyond selected teams or workflows and make it available across the firm.
BKL’s decision reflects a strategic “buy, not build” approach. While many large Korean firms have focused on developing proprietary in-house AI systems, BKL has chosen to deploy a proven external platform firmwide while continuing to build its own AI capabilities in parallel. Separately, BKL is using AI to label and structure its internal document database, supporting the development of a proprietary retrieval-augmented generation (“RAG”) knowledge base that preserves and enhances the firm’s accumulated expertise.
Harvey’s implementation at BKL is supported by Korean-language assistance, Korean-language training and tailored implementation across key practice groups, including cross-border M&A, international disputes and multi-jurisdictional regulatory work. The deployment also operates under BKL’s AI governance framework, including matter-level access controls and lawyer review of AI-assisted outputs. BKL’s enterprise environment is designed so that input data is not used to train AI models.
