Office Introduction
BKL established its local office in Singapore in August 2021 to provide specialized legal services to Korean companies expanding into Southeast Asia, particularly Singapore. BKL’s Singapore office offers close, on-the-ground support for a wide range of matters, including outbound direct investment and M&A transactions, as well as complex dispute resolution such as litigation and international arbitration.
Recently, BKL further strengthened its global dispute resolution capabilities by welcoming Mr. Chris Mainwaring-Taylor, a foreign attorney qualified in England and Wales, UK, who has expertise in international arbitration and a background at one of the UK’s top five law firms.
Mr. Mainwaring-Taylor built a 25-year career at Allen & Overy (“A&O”), including 12 years as a partner. During his tenure, he gained extensive experience across major international arbitration hubs such as London, Paris, Dubai, and Singapore. He has also demonstrated notable expertise in international disputes across a broad range of sectors such as construction and energy, natural resources, power, infrastructure, aviation, and finance.
Mr. Mainwaring-Taylor, who has built a distinguished career with extensive practical experience in numerous international arbitration cases, will play a key role in leading BKL’s arbitration practice in Singapore and the broader Southeast Asian region. His addition is expected to create significant synergy, enabling BKL to respond more effectively to complex cross-border disputes and to provide top-tier arbitration services to both domestic and international clients.
BKL’s Singapore office also serves as a strategic control tower, overseeing the firm’s operations across Southeast Asia. The office is led by Ms. Eric Eunyong Yang, who brings over 17 years of experience advising Korean enterprises on investments, mergers and acquisitions, construction, real estate, financial transactions, and dispute resolution throughout the region.
In addition, BKL’s Singapore office is supported by a team of highly experienced attorneys with extensive expertise in international transactions and dispute resolution across Singapore and the broader South Asia region.
