Hyoung woo Kim's principal practice areas include capital markets and financial investment litigation, corporate and management control disputes, tax, corporate criminal matters, and unfair trade regulation.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Kim worked at Samil PwC, where he was engaged in accounting audits, asset securitization, non-performing loan (NPL) sales, and feasibility studies for real estate development projects. As an attorney, he has handled high-profile financial investment lawsuits, including the KIKO currency option mis-selling case, subordinated bonds mis-selling cases, the KOSPI index options market manipulation case, accounting fraud litigation involving Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and Samsung Biologics, and the Optimus Fund scandal. He has also advised on numerous M&A transactions for Skylake Equity Partners, as well as tax-efficient reverse merger structures. Mr. Kim regularly advises government ministries and public institutions, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. In recognition of his contributions to fair trade policy and enforcement, he received a Commendation for Distinguished Service in Fair Trade from Minister Han Seong-sook. Mr. Kim is also recognized for leveraging artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies to enhance legal service efficiency and has won a national Legal AI Competition.
