Ugu Choi focuses his practice on financial regulation and capital markets enforcement, transactional structuring in cross-border deals, and corporate restructuring and insolvency.
In the capital markets area, Mr. Choi represents global firms, listed companies, major shareholders and executives in regulatory reviews and enforcement proceedings. His experience covers a broad range of market misconduct matters under Korea’s Capital Markets Act, including short selling, use of MNPI and market manipulation. He also advises on the structuring of cross-border transactions, with a focus on Korean regulatory, corporate and financing considerations.
Mr. Choi also has extensive experience in corporate restructuring and insolvency, including corporate rehabilitation, bankruptcy and out-of-court workouts, distressed M&A, claims adjudication and insolvency-related disputes. He has particular experience in cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters involving overseas stakeholders.
Mr. Choi joined Bae, Kim & Lee LLC in 2015 and practiced at Kobre & Kim LLP’s New York office from 2021 to 2022. He received his LL.M. from New York University School of Law and is admitted to practice in both Korea and New York.
