Overview

For the past 15 years, Jinhyo Kim has primarily practiced regulations for greenhouse gas emissions including K-ETS in Korea and abroad, carbon neutrality and ESG activities, entry into the new renewable energy and carbon markets and carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) in various industries such as semiconductor, steel, petrochemical, paper, textiles and finance. Mr. Kim earned a B.A. in Economics from Hanyang University in 2001, an M.S. in Economics from the University of Essex in the U.K. in 2005 and J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in the U.S. in 2011, respectively. He presently works as a senior foreign attorney at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC.

Representative Matters

Advised 50+ Korean entities subject to allocation under the Korean Emission Trading Scheme on their response thereto
Established strategies on using renewable energy for Korean and foreign companies
Advised Korean and foreign companies on instituting and implementing their respective roadmap to carbon neutrality
Developed and registered methodologies for external projects to reduce process emissions of the Korean semiconductor industry
Registered Korean external projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advised clients on voluntary emission-reduction projects overseas
Served as an intermediary for carbon credits in Korean and foreign regulated and voluntary carbon markets
Advised Korean and foreign companies on their response to climate-environment-related disclosure requirements (carbon footprint, Scope3, supply chain, and reduction)
Advised Korean exporting companies on their response to global carbon regulations
Advised (as an advisory commissioner) and provided training for Korean associations (iron and steel/cement/petrochemical/nonferrous metal/chemical fibers/paper/limestone) on their response to regulations over greenhouse gas emissions
