Hongseok Bok specializes in economic analysis of fair trade cases, representation in merger filings reviews, and analysis of regulatory and legislative trends.
Mr. Bok earned his master's and doctoral degrees in public administration through research on "The Effects of the Equity Investment Ceiling Regulation on Corporate Investment" and "Demand Function Estimation and Market Definition of Multi-Channel Video Services," respectively. Following the completion of his doctoral degree, he accumulated approximately 15 years of diverse practical and research experience in fair trade while serving at the Korea Fair Trade Commission and the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency, among others.
At the Economic Analysis Division of the Korea Fair Trade Commission, Mr. Bok was responsible for economic analysis in numerous fair trade cases, including large-scale merger filings reviews involving airlines, food delivery platforms, and pay multi-channel providers that attracted significant public attention. At the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency, he served as a researcher at the Market Research Division and later as head of the Fair Trade Research Center, where he led fair trade policy research, market and industry investigations and analyses, and assessments of the competitive effects of newly introduced or strengthened regulations. He also served as secretary to the Fair Trade Compliance Program (CP) Rating Evaluation Committee and participated for several years in CP rating evaluation projects.
In recognition of his contributions to the development of Korea's fair trade regime, Mr. Bok received a Prime Minister's Citation in 2025. He has published numerous academic articles in the fields of fair trade and economics, including industrial organization, and his research achievements have been further recognized through awards such as the Best Paper Award from the Korea Academic Society of Industrial Organization.
