Overview
Hye Eun Cheung plays a pivotal role in BKL’s family law, inheritance, and divorce practices, drawing from her long years of service as a specialized family and juvenile judge at the Seoul Family Court. Ms. Cheung has been widely recognized for her outstanding skills and expertise, giving lectures and participating in legislative amendment projects in the relevant field. From her judicial appointment in 2006 until her retirement in 2025 as the presiding judge of the Seoul Family Court, Ms. Cheung handled a variety of civil, criminal, administrative, bankruptcy, family, and conservatorship cases at the Seoul Administrative Court and the Suwon District Court. In particular, she is well versed in family trials and practices, as she served at the Seoul Family Court for nine years as a specialized family and juvenile judge, handling a full spectrum of family-related cases, including divorce, division of inheritance, adult guardianship, juvenile protection, litigation, and non-litigation. Ms. Cheung is also recognized for her expertise in the field of family law, having delivered numerous lectures to judges, public guardians, coordinators, and lawyers, and participated in the amendment of the Annotated Civil Code (Inheritance), enactment of the Enforcement Rules of the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes, and amendment of the Child Support Expense Calculation Guideline Table. In recognition of her impartiality and reliability as a judge, she was selected as an Outstanding Judge in the Seoul Bar Association's 2023 Judge Evaluation.
