Sangcheol Kim focuses his practice mainly on the Capital Markets Act, the Fair Trade Act, Bankruptcy Act, and nuclear power, among other fields of law. During his 20 years of service as judge that concluded in 2023 with his final post at Seoul High Court, Mr. Kim has presided over various cases on not only civil and criminal matters but also fair transaction, the Capital Market Act, bankruptcy, etc.

In particular, Mr. Kim handled an array of cases on fair transactions during his service at the Chamber of Fair Transaction of Seoul High Court, on top of cases related to the Capital Markets Act, which was the chosen area of specialization during his LLM program. During his tenure as judge, Mr. Kim also assumed the positions of research judge at the Judicial Policy Research Institute, public information officer at the Seoul High Court, professor for newly appointed judges at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, as well as authoring trial practice guides and papers on the Capital Markets Act and the Bankruptcy Act.
