December 14, 2018—InterContinental
Grand Seoul Parnas Hotel—Bae, Kim & Lee LLC ("BKL") received the distinguished honor of being recognized as the First
Korean Arbitration Awards’ winner of the Grand Award for the law firm sector.
BKL won the grand prize after having
scored highest in the evaluation index for number of international arbitrations
handled this year and their value. As Korea’s first international
arbitration-dedicated team and Asia’s leader in team size, BKL’s International
Arbitration & Litigation Practice Group was established in 2002 after
recognizing the development potential of representing clients in an
ever-increasing number of cross-border disputes arising during the aftermath of
the 1997 Asian economic crisis. Listed on the famous “GAR 30” of the most
active arbitration practices worldwide, BKL has built a reputation not only in
Korea but also overseas.
In his acceptance speech, BKL Managing
Partner Mr. Kap-You Kevin Kim, founder and head of BKL’s International
Arbitration & Litigation Practice Group, observed that “BKL has the largest
arbitration team in Asia and is capable of handling any arbitration” and that
“BKL’s record of representing numerous arbitrations for the Korean government
and corporations inside and outside Korea was likely what won the award.”
The Korean Arbitration Awards, held
for the first time this year, was jointly organized by the Korean Commercial
Arbitration Board and the Korea Economic Daily in honor of the law firms, arbitrators,
and attorneys who contributed to the development and promotion of arbitration.
BKL’s International Arbitration & Litigation Practice Group is
committed to providing the best and most competitive representation to its clients
as well as leading efforts towards developing arbitration.
