Major Cases

    • Handling extensive litigation arising from currency hedge-related derivative contracts, such as “KIKO” (Knock-in Knock-out) contracts and forward and options contracts including contracts with offshore funds.

    • Represented Seoul Guarantee Insurance and other financial institutions in claims totaling over US$4 billion against the Samsung Group arising from financing arrangements for Samsung Motors.

    • Represented banks, insurers and other clients in lawsuit seeking to compel repurchase by securities houses of several US$100 millions worth of beneficiary certificates. The case proceeded to the Korean Supreme Court, where BKL obtained a favorable result in a landmark decision.
